| RESEARCH OVERVIEW |
|
|
The research projects involve the design and synthesis of new organometallic and coordination compounds with applications as catalysts, medicines and as new materials:
| CATALYSIS |
| ■ Catalyst synthesis for: |
- Polymerisation/oligomerisation
- Hydroformylation
- Carbonylation
- Oxidation
- Carbon-carbon cross-coupling
|
| ■ Catalyst testing: |
| |
| |
| MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY |
| ■ Synthesis of new: |
- Anti-malarial drugs
- Anti-cancer drugs
|
■ In vitro and in vivo testing
■ Structure-activity relationships of drugs |
| |
| MATERIALS CHEMISTRY |
| ■ Design and synthesis of: |
- New polymers (organic and inorganic/organometallic)
- Metallodendrimers
|
| The research in the group accommodates students with interests in all areas of chemistry and provides students with a broad training in small mononuclear molecules, polymers and dendritic/polynuclear complexes (materials synthesis), and characterization techniques. Many of our projects are interdisciplinary in nature. Thus, projects can involve both synthetic chemists, medical biochemists and through collaboration, industrial researchers. |
